Summer fun

While Lucas napped, Grace made a bracelet for herself. This is definitely a project that must be done while Lucas is sleeping. I have visions, horrible visions of him getting a hold of the bead box. That would be the end of my day. Thankfully he took a long enough nap that Grace was able to complete her bracelet. The finished product. What you can't see is how sloppily I tied the whole thing together with a big gap between the beads. Guess I need to take a jewelry making class.Once Lucas woke up from his nap and ate his lunch, we decided to head for Zilker and the Hike and Bike trail. The plan was for me to exercise (yes, I do this on occasion) and then to head over to the park.
Let me just say that it was hot and I was (am) really out of shape. It is amazing to me that I was ever able to run any distance much less 6 miles a mere 3 months ago.

Here they are at the end of the run. Grace unconscious from heat exhaustion (really just napping, or pretending to nap) and Lucas taking a water break. No picture of me. Just imagine a red-faced, sweaty girl barely able to catch her breath. My legs are still sore.
Sitting under the lamar bridge. I love this part of the trail because the kids can get down and see fish, turtles, ducks, squirrels, canoes and.........graffiti. We've been working on our letters so of course she's pointing out each one. She even got them right. Lucas was more interested in the cobwebs. It really is nice though because there is no way that either of them could slither through the rails.
Now checking out the ducks....This picture kinda turned out weird but I still like it.
Grace only slightly bossing her brother around. "C'mon Bubby, this way."
Off on his own to investigate the world.....
and point out the "locals". I bet he could say "hobo" but I'm not sure that's pc.
And that was the end of our little adventure. I know, I know. We were supposed to go to the park which is just across the way but did I mention that it was hot and that I haven't exercised in the last 3 months or so? By the time we got back to the van I wasn't sure if it would be better to go home or to the nearest ER. Thank God for air conditioning!! I'm just glad that Grace forgot about the park. Phew!
Oh, did I also mention that we (I) decided to turn off our cable? Yep. I haven't gone crazy yet because it takes them "a couple of days to disconnect" so it still works. Right now I'm watching some Dateline murder mystery show. I'm sure that suddenly the cable will go out at the worst possible moment and then I will lose my mind. I should just turn it off but I'm addicted. Cold sweats, nausea here I come.
