The greatest show on earth

We took Grace to her first circus today. Lucas got to hang out with the grandparents---I didn't think he would enjoy it and therefore neither would I.
Waiting in the heat with the masses to get inside.A little relief in the shade. Finally made it inside. This is one of the first things we saw---huge pillars of cotton candy. Steve was in heaven. On our way down to the arena.
It was pretty neat because they had the floor open before the actual show started and you could watch smaller shows going on. They even had an elephant painting a picture. I missed that one because I was getting goodies.

A picture with one of the dancers.
Trying to be clowns which really isn't much of a stretch for either of them.

And the ring master announcing the beginning of the show,"Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages......(I can't remember the rest). Sorry for the out of focus photo. It's the half broken camera, I swear.

Grace clapping along. The opening part of the show was like circus diarrhea. I think they had all the acts out, horses, elephants, dancers, acrobats, motorcycles everything all at once. A little overwhelming, but Grace seemed to enjoy it.

We (I) really liked the elephants and found it amusing that they walked around holding each other's tails. Cute. Makes me kinda wish that my kids had tails so I could hang onto them.

Still captivated by the whole thing.
Getting a closer look.......

of the tigers.

She seemed to enjoy everything, but got a little antsy to see the elephants and tigers as promised. During the intermission she asked me if there were going to be unicorns. No unicorns? And that was the end of the circus for her. We stayed until the end anyway.

I think overall she enjoyed it, but at 2 plus hours it was a little long for her and frankly for me too. Her favorite part---"my raspa (snowcone, the $15 snowcone) and watching the tigers do tricks". My favorite part--probably the elephants. Steve's favorite part--the motorcycles circling around the steel globe of death (I don't think that's what it's really called but maybe they should rethink the name).
I am just so very glad that we didn't take Lucas and can't wait until he is old enough to sit through a show.
Overall impression: The greatest show on earth....without unicorns.
