Adventures with daddy

I can't say too much about these pictures since I wasn't there. Steve took them out here while I was at my sewing class. He thought he would burn off some of their energy. Good thinking.

Fall fest

We spent the day celebrating the arrival of fall at our church's annual Fall Fest. It didn't feel like fall, more like the middle of summer. They had lots of activities for the kids.
We hit up the petting zoo first. Not exactly zoo, maybe farm. There were no lions or bears.
Trying to pet the rabbits.
Grace tried to pick up the rabbits but they were "too slippery". She couldn't quite get the right amount of pressure to hold them tight.
It took Lucas a little while to get used to them but he eventually pet them too.
On to the goats and the reason I'm glad I married Steve (one of many)--long wet tongues licking food off my hands, I'll pass.
A picture with the donkey and calf....
and don't forget the furry piglets.
On to the games. This turned out to be Grace's favorite. She played it several more times.
The Lollipop tree turned out to be a little misleading. You don't get to keep the lollipop.
My kids are duck pond pros. Did you know that? After Grace's second party we had a ton of ducks leftover from her duck pond and have found their way into my parent's pool every summer since.
Helping Lucas and trying to keep him from getting in the water.
Enjoying the prize.
Fishin' for.....
Snails! The favorite prize of the day. Snaily, as she is affectionately known, is currently taking a nap on our couch, on a pillow and under a blanket.
Waiting with Grandma while Grace rides the ponies.
Pony riding. The lady leading the pony around was going really fast but Grace was able to hold on. I guess all that time at Kiddie Acres paid off.
Lucas didn't want to get too close.
His personal escorts.
They had a lot of fun playing all the games and won lots of "prizes".
A picture with the cake they won at the cakewalk.
Taking a break inside from the heat.
Getting some binocular tips from Grandpa.
"C'mon Bubby, it's time to go."

The joys of recycling

Lucas loves recycling. Loves it. His code word is "side" which means take me outside right now to put all the recyclables into the big recycling trash can or face severe consequences (high pitched screaming and flailing on the ground). Throwing, pouring, these are his favorite things.
Some action shots.

Once you throw it in the can, you have to spread your hands in case it tries to pop out. "Stay there, recyclable!"
Recyclables are tops on his Christmas list. Just so you know.

Push-up Tuesday

It was Tuesday and we declared it to be "Push-up Tuesday". Sometimes, I can't believe how lucky I am.
A little on the nose and a little on the tongue.
Grape for Grace.
Not sure if you can tell, but she has some on her nose too. That's the great thing about push-ups--they keep your nose cool too!
I know these pictures aren't the greatest but my camera was having an off day. Oh, well.

A lesson from Grandpa

I'm pretty sure he would have figured it out by himself at some point but he got some pointers from Grandpa. He's pretty good too---see the stream of water. Oh, this boy is a handful!
Grace looking on excitedly presumably because if he can get away with it, so can she.
Side view. Note the concentration and tongue action.

He's almost tall enough to really cause some trouble. If only he thought about bringing around the stool or chair.
Luckily, the makers of our refrigerator must have had kids because there is a lock to lock out the water and ice dispensers. It's been locked ever since this picture was taken.

The construction zone

Here was our second visit to the Children's Museum to see the part that we didn't get to the first time. This was the construction side. Here they are enjoying a little house that you could wallpaper but they mostly liked sitting in it and looking out the windows.Cute now, but trouble later.
Trying on the construction outfit. Lucas's hard hat was just a little too big.
But he made the best of it and played peek a boo with it. It was funny watching him run around with it over his face. He even bumped into a wall---maybe he should be wearing a hard hat.
Busy builders.
Grace with a hinge. I know it looks like it's in her mouth but it isn't. I had a hard time with the bolts and screws. I guess we'll have to take Daddy with us next time.
Lucas's favorite part was the sorting part. He loved fitting the different bolts to send them downstairs to the "supply" area.
Hard to believe but we spent 2 and 1/2 hours here most of which were spent in the construction zone. I guess I need a construction zone at my house. Maybe then, I'd have time to do other things. Like nap.

Happy Grandparent's day

All I can say about this is "oops". I thought that Grandparent's day was in November or October or some other day in the fall time period. Apparently Walmart and Target did not do a good job advertising this holiday because I was clueless until I checked out facebook this morning. Couldn't they at least have given me more of a warning like "hey, Grandparent's day is next week or in two days or tomorrow". Sorry Grandparents. It's not something I'm used to celebrating since as a kid, we never really celebrated it. At least not that I can remember.
I was going to put together a fabulous post/photo montage to make up for the lack of cards, flowers or other Grandparent's day goodies but I don't have access to any of our older photos yet.
Nevertheless, we love you Grandparents. We wish that all of you could live closer to us because we would probably have more of this (oh, and because we love you too)---the scene after my parents dropped the kids off after watching them for us (on yes, Grandparents day---double oops).
The miracle is that they both were asleep (passed out) at the same time. I didn't even have to hold anyone to keep them from waking up! I had even more time to work on my newest project.
So, happy Grandparents day. We'll make up for it next year, that is if I can remember.

A house divided

More college football fun.
As all of you know, Steve is an OU alumni and so I try to do the best I can to be supportive. Afterall, it must be difficult to be an OU fan these days (okay, I had to get at least one jab in). I know it can be hard for Steve because for one we live in Austin and two I am a huge UT fan as is my extended family. I'm afraid he bears the brunt of the OU jokes at family functions and even in our neighborhood. He's a really good sport about it. So, for this second week of college football, I thought it only fair to dress the kids up in their OU outfits since they started the season in UT gear. And just so you know, all the OU outfits we have were a gift from Steve's friend, Marshall, who is also an OU alumni and fan. I'm not an OU fan, so I don't buy OU paraphernalia. But if people are so kind as to send us stuff then I have no problem dressing them up in it (just don't send any Aggie outfits). Anyway, we've had this little dress for a while but it finally fit her this season.
Here's Grace doing the "O" in her Sooner's outfit. Very cute, no matter what team, right?
She looks like she is going to do a pirouette or some other ballet move.
She really liked wearing the hood. In fact, we went to eat dinner at Chuy's and she wanted to wear the hood. We had to explain to her that it is rude to wear a hood or hat in a restaurant. Of course right over at the table next to us was a man wearing a hat. Oops.
You are probably wondering where the pictures of Lucas are. Well, that didn't go over so well. The only outfit we have for him have suspenders and apparently he does not like suspenders. He's also sick and wasn't as tolerant as he usually is. We'll have to try again later, I guess.

Hook 'em.
