Overall I thought the day turned out really well. We got to watch a parade and be in a parade. Everyone got to take a nap (Lucas took 2). We had a yummy Mexican (I know, not American) dinner and we got to enjoy the fireworks without too many of the nuisances associated with that (just the heat and the ants). In my mind, a perfect Fourth of July!

Happy Fourth of July
The Fourth of July post aka the post with a million pictures. I couldn't bear to leave any of them out. Just be happy I didn't put them all in. I probably would have if it didn't take so long for them to upload. I guess I'm doing it the slow (wrong) way per my husband. Oh well.
We headed over to my parent's house to get some breakfast before the day's activities began which included: a neighborhood parade, a children's parade, swimming and fireworks galore. Did I mention eating too? We did a lot of that but I guess that's every day.
Waiting for the parade to begin outside of Grandma/Grandpa's house. Don't they look cute sitting in those little chairs? I accidentally forgot to bring Lucas's shoes so he went barefoot for a while (don't tell CPS, please). Man, his feet were dirty. Personally, I think he likes it that way.
Grandma and Grace.
Grandpa with the kids (and the movie camera).
Grace cheering at the beginning of the parade complete with her 4th of July tiara, wand and homemade pom-pom.
We got a lot of candy, a couple of balls and a paper airplane.
Getting ready for the children's parade. It was really hot and it was only 10am! Grace was really excited to be in her first parade. Lucas just wanted out of the stroller.
The parade in action.
Grace even gave Lucas a quick ride.
Then Lucas pushed Grace back to car after the parade was over.
Time to cool down after the long, hot walk.
Mommy and Lucas enjoying some bouncy time in the pool.
Grace and her swim buddy. Grandma is her only swim buddy. Don't even think about asking if you can be her swim buddy.
We decided to head to Buda for their fireworks celebration because it was closer and we figured it would be less crazy than the Austin fireworks. It was.
Lucas enjoying a ride from Daddy.
We bought Grace some cheapy headphones that she could plug into my iphone and listen to music in case the fireworks got too loud for her. She's noise sensitive. Here she is trying them out.
Enjoying some cotton candy before the big show. Still with the headphones...
Lucas enjoying some M&M's with Grandma and Grandpa.
Nina with a pom pom in her hair.
Grace watching her first firework display. She enjoyed it and the headphones worked perfectly. She got into the whole celebration, waving her little flag and yelling "Happy Fourth of July".
Lucas watching his first firework show. He was mesmerized. I know it looks like he's looking at the camera, but really he's watching the fireworks. It didn't last too long though because pretty soon he was passed out at least until the grand finale.
