Pumpkin patch

We headed out to a pumpkin patch in Elgin (about 45 minutes from Austin). Our first of the season. The pumpkin patch is located on a Christmas tree farm and they have the "pumpkin festival" for 2 weekends in October. It wasn't a real pumpkin patch since they didn't actually grow the pumpkins there. I didn't realize it until I saw the huge bins in the back filled with pumpkins. Oh well. We had a good time nonetheless.
We started with a hay ride. Lucas looks thrilled I know. He was a little crabby because we had to wake him up from his nap. I made the kids some pumpkin shirts and when Grace saw me painting insisted on making one too. In hindsight, I should of let her make her own but it was too late and I didn't have an extra t-shirt. So......she made one for Daddy instead. I thought she did a really good job--complete with eyebrows, arms and legs.
The weather was perfect. Our partners in crime.Grace with the bean bag toss pumpkin. Her favorite game.Waiting in line for the train ride.On the train.

Seeking shelter in the shade with Grandpa. The both got rock candy suckers. The only way we could get them to both look in the direction of the camera was to ask them to "give some to Grandma" (the photographer). They really liked those suckers.

With Nina in the "pumpkin patch".

Did I mention that it was really sunny? That explains all the squinting and closed eyes in the picture.
The pumpkins were the perfect size for sitting stools.
Enjoying the pumpkin painting station.
Duck racing with Daddy and Nina. You had to pump the water as fast as you could to push your rubber ducky through the pipes and to the finish line.
The perfect game for Lucas, combining his love for ducks and all things that involve water (with the exception of baths, of course).
On to the maze. I think this was Grace's favorite part. She ran around the maze as fast as she could go and even went a second time with Grandma.
Lucas took the easy route.
Trying to feed the llama some hay.
After we finished up at the pumpkin patch we headed over to Southside for some BBQ. Yum. I didn't get very many picture because I was too busy eating (stuffing my face) but did manage to catch one of Lucas and Grandpa sharing a scoop of ice cream.
