Fourth of July Party/Daddy's Home
We had an early Fourth of July party at my parent's house. We were also celebrating Steve's return home from D.C. He got back just in time to attend the party. No flight delays this time. Whew!
There was lots of swimming to be done.
Here is Grace waiting not so patiently for her turn. She is finally at that age where she wants to be the first to hit it. I heard "I don't want to be patient" and "I can't wait any longer" multiple times before it was finally her turn.
There were a few technical difficulties. A result of too much candy in the pinata.
Bubby went first. He did a really good job of hitting it.
Grace finally (finally) gets her turn. She took some really big swings. I didn't get any pictures of them actually breaking it or the kids running for the candy. Why? Because I had a case of fire ant foot. Ouch!
Lucas enjoying a (his) sucker with Grandpa.
All dressed up in one of their many Fourth of July outfits.

Busy Day
What a busy day we had. We spent the morning making cupcakes and decorations for the 4th of July party.
No picture of the finished product because, well, we didn't finish them yet. Maybe they'll be ready for next year? That's the way it goes.
Then we went to Chuck E. Cheese with Grandma and Grandpa. I'm so proud of Grace for getting close enough to the rat that I could actually take a picture. She loves him but said later "Mommy Chuck E. doesn't talk, does he? It's because he hasn't grown up yet like Lucas." Works for me. Let's just hope that Lucas's front teeth aren't that big when they come in.
Lucas did not fare so well. Grandpa had to do the quick turn around to get the picture.
This was by far Grace's favorite ride. She could've spent all of her tokens on it. Yeehaw!
Lucas did a good job riding too.
Taking Stewart Little for a ride.
Grandma catching a ride too.
Enjoying the spoils of all the 50 tickets they won (plus the $2.20 I pitched in as they were 220 tickets short!). I love how Bubby is just shoveling it in. Hurry before anyone sees me.
Yeah, we saw you stinker. Now it's Grace's turn to shovel it in.
Overall, a fun but tiring day.

Dancing in the Rain
We got some rain today (again). Grace got so excited when she heard it coming down. I told her we could go outside and "splash-splish" like Piggie and Gerald (characters in a new book we got yesterday at the library about two friends who make the best out of a rainy day). What a coincidence!
At first a little timid, with umbrella and flip flops.
Then a full out rain dance sans umbrella and flip flops.
Hopping and skipping.
Hooray for rain!!! Can you tell that it hasn't rained in a while? (ok, so it did rain yesterday but before that it hadn't rained in quite some time.)
Bubby thought he'd give it a try. I love how he bends his head down as soon as he feels the rain.
So surprised that he actually go out into it.
No dancing, skipping or hopping for him, just sweeping. He's no nonsense (and no relation--ha!).
So sad to say good-bye to the rain. I think he's just really upset to say good-bye to the broom. Strange boy. Hope everyone else enjoyed the rain. I did because now I don't have to water the grass tomorrow (or more accurately, I don't have to feel guilty about not watering the grass tomorrow)!
