Weekend Fun

This weekend didn't seem to last too long. We took the kids to get new shoes. Grace needed new tennis shoes for preschool and Lucas's chubby little feet were overflowing in his sandals.Trying out some new tennis shoes. He had to check them out in the mirror first.
Grace sitting so patiently. We found her some nice (big, 9 and 1/2!) shoes. They make her run really fast. She kept running up and down the aisle just to show us.

This was definitely a party weekend. We had a party on Saturday and one on Sunday. No pictures from the Saturday party because I didn't think to get out my camera until after the fact. Smart one.
Here are a few shots from the pool party on Sunday.
Grace enjoying some milk with Grandpa during a pool break.
Lucas hanging out. There was a little ledge along the pool that Lucas had fun jumping off of. Oh, if only I had a waterproof camera......
Singing happy birthday.
They had fun. I was glad to have something to distract Grace with since Steve left Sunday for his latest (and greatest) business trip. A fun week ahead for us!

Friday Shenanigans

Today was a long day, really long since both kids were up at 6:30 and ready to go. We had breakfast and I spent the morning cleaning the kitchen, the entire kitchen. It started with the stovetop and went from there. And after cleaning, you should of seen the mess that was my living room. That's what happens when you leave your kids unattended. So, what's the point? I guess if I can only have one clean room in my house, I want it to be the kitchen.
Grace was happy to help me mop. That girl loves to mop which really means she likes to get water all over the floor. That's a 3 year old for you. These next few photos are really blurry. My camera has not been the same since that fateful fall.Notice the pool of water at her feet. She is so proud.
Her favorite part, pushing the mop up and down.

After cleaning the kitchen we decided to start a craft. Last week I bought some wooden pegs to make into peg dolls. I've painted a few but I thought Grace might have fun decorating some with markers not paint (thank god, we didn't try paint). And if there are markers around then Lucas will come a runnin'.
Here's his artwork. He actually got a hold of one of the pegs and colored it's "head" orange. He had so much fun with the markers. He doesn't color this much with crayons but with markers he goes crazy. You should have seen my arm (and his toes).
I think I overestimated Grace's ability to color on something small and round. She was getting quite frustrated but didn't want me to help and didn't want to do anything else. Poor baby. She tried really hard and here are the results. Lucas's is the far left, then mine and Grace's are the two on the right. My favorite is the 5 eyed purple one.
After the fun craft (I'm being sarcastic), it was time for lunch. Lucas had a delicious combination of pizza, ham and banana. He was really tired because he didn't take a morning nap.
Going.......
Going........
Gone! Zzzzzzzzzz. No, he didn't take a nap in the high chair, I carried him upstairs to bed.
And Grace decided that she'd catch some zzzz's at the table too.
Silly girl. Just as an aside, I do brush that girl's hair but somehow it ends up a mess.

And that was Friday at least until lunch. I didn't mention the trip to Central Market where I lost my wallet for about 5 minutes (it runs in my family since both my mom and sister have lost their wallets in the last 2 weeks. Luckily I found mine, or a Central Market employee found it). I also didn't mention the trip to Walmart with my mom, or making homemade nutty buddies, or having my sister over for grilled salmon.
See how I spare you by not including everything we did today?

Well, I'm off to bed. I get to sleep in late tomorrow. Yippee.

Trains, trains, trains

Here's the reason I didn't post anything yesterday---too much drama. I had to take Lucas in for his check-up and on the way inside Grace fell somehow. Still not sure how it happened. "I lose my balance, Mommy." I didn't even realize how bad it was until we got into the waiting area and noticed her knee was all bloody. Ugh! That coupled with Lucas's 3 shots were enough to do me in.
The knee up close. Looking better.

And today.....
Did you know that I spoil my kids? I just can't help myself. It's a problem. I blame my parents because I didn't have enough toys. Convenient, huh? Of course I'm only kidding. I have no one to blame but myself. The latest accessory:
A train set for Lucas and well, Grace too. Lucas has really become interested in cars and likes to make varrrooooom sounds with them. He also seems to like the "choo-choo" sounds of the trains (the few) that we have. Plus he doesn't have a lot of boyish toys. Let's see, what other excuses can I make for this purchase? He seemed to liked the crane. Especially liked swinging it around.....
while making noises like "gshhhhhh" before well, letting go and hitting his mother on her shoulder. I gotta watch out for that crane.

My attempt to try to get a picture of them together.
"Sit down by sissy, Lucas. Sit down.""Yes, it is a camera."
"Wait, where are you going? No, stay, Bubby."
Ahhhhhh (long sigh). "Yes, camera. Don't touch." And that was the end of the train photo shoot. He was more interested in the camera than the train set. I just hope I don't see a camera the next time I go to Walmart.

I was able to snap this picture of him while preparing for the Spongebob Squarepants song. "Oooooo." If you've never heard it, consider yourself blessed.
Finally a picture with both of them. Together. With their eyes open. And looking at the camera.
We finally resumed our after dinner walks despite the heat. Goodness it is so hot. Seems like it would start cooling off but I think the temp ramps up the hour or two before the sun goes down just in time for our walks.
Now if we could just find a stroller with a spot for me, preferably one where I could lay down.
